Who is this training for
People new to working on Fibre Networks and people who only need a basic understanding of Fibre Network technologies and principles.
Completion of this course could be cited as Approved Prior Learning for clients progressing onto the GQA NVQ Lev 2 Diploma in Construction and Cabling Operations when Building an External Fibre Network
Course Outline
The course is of a modular design and can be tailored to meet the individual needs/requirements of clients/companies
Course Objectives
The course provides an end-to-end overview of what a Next Generation Network is and will unlock some of the terminology around Fibre Networks. We will review current Fibre Network Topologies (Openreach, Virgin Media, and CPs/ISPs), Fibre Cable Construction, and the underground installation practices and methodologies when building these networks, including Blown Fibre installation of micro-ducts in narrow trenches. An overview of Customer Premises Equipment is included. The course also includes an introductory module on Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) – for network build using the Openreach network. The course includes refresher training on H&S requirements when working on the installation of fibre networks and working safely with fibre cables.
Clients can substitute Module 1 for a NVQ Lev1 (GQA) and GQA Safety card (CSCS equivalent) in partnership with PCC-Training
On completion of the course Clients will be awarded a GQA approved Fibre Networks Competency Certificate and GQA Q Card which are valid for 5 years
This course will be held initially face-to-face at clients preferred locations or ITC office Belfast with the option available via Teams / Zoom
